As a state, Vermont is known for it's mountains, farms, skiing, hiking, and fall foliage. The Green Mountains run North to South in the middle of Vermont making for beautiful viewing and sometimes difficult travel. The Green Mountain Club maintains the Long Trail which runs the whole length of the State and the Vermont Ski Areas Association keeps people informed on both winter and summer activities.
Vermont weather can best be described as changeable. The summers are beautiful, temperate, and short. October is colorful and often sees the first snow blanketing the mountains. The winters are long, cold, and dark and the major reason why both native Vermonters and "flatlanders" think about going to Florida. However, for the winter sport enthusist Vermont winters offer a wide variety of outdoor activities. Spring is a rebirth and release from winter which makes it much anticipated. Mud season, which accompanies spring, results in some unpassable roads and increased revenue for the wheel alignment businesses.
There are numerous websites to provide information on Vermont. The Vermont State government site is extensive and they do a good job of keeping it up to date.
